The 2000's

December of 2002: I noticed an unheard of lateral support situation at the rear of 113 Platinum Drive which needed to be addressed.

Close Up Images

The development project at 113 Platinum Drive is underpinned by a 12-foot rock and fill slope, which has been constructed in a loose configuration, creating a steeper than 1:1 slope. This unstable slope is supported by our multi-generational grid fence line, raising concerns about the long-term safety and integrity of both the building and the surrounding area, particularly regarding potential erosion or structural failure due to the loose fill conditions.

Miss Utility

Following a Miss Utility line verification, it was observed that a PDC gas line was located within the support area of the development project. In response to the verification and the potential safety concerns raised by Miss Utility, PDC promptly decided to abandon their gas line.

I Notified Authorities and contact Platinum Properties where Platinum Property's Previous Morgantown City Planner, Rich Lane States that It was the City of Bridgeport's and Platinum Properties Fault. Adding he was a previous City Planner, and a City Planner's job is to make sure this does not happen.

After reaching out to Bridgeport's City Planner, Randy Spellman, I learned that the City Attorney had removed regulatory oversight from the situation at its inception, deeming it a "landowners issue." In response to these developments, Rich Lane indicated that his attorneys had clarified their responsibility was limited to maintaining the existing fence. Additionally, Lane sent a request to the Bridgeport Planning Commission President, Robert Greer, seeking an immediate rezoning of the area to align with the current construction, as the existing zoning regulations would not have permitted such a controversial development.

The Beginning

So, began an odyssey of an escalating crisis in a city, where widespread destruction originated from said neglected area, allegedly unnoticed by those in power including local officials and the media. This situation not only perplexed local professionals but also drew the attention of an increasingly diverse group of prominent foreign visitors some within the worlds of International Business, Law and Engineering.

Implementing an engineered plan based on HR Marsh's expert recommendations, we strategically install an underground French drain over bedrock to effectively manage and redirect drainage issues caused by Platinum Properties. This intervention aims to intercept and control the unwanted water flow being pumped onto and into our property from the rear of 113 Platinum Properties.
